State Budget Cuts Announcement:

To those who may not be aware, due to state budgetary cuts, all nursing programs across the state of Georgia are being financially affected, which is going to significantly affect the quality of our education. Unfortunately, several nursing programs have been selected to be eliminated as part of these cuts. Schools selected to be cut include Augusta State University’s BSN program, MCG Athens’ BSN program, and the MCG CRNA program. Student have formed a group called “USG Students for Quality Education” to inform people about the possible budget cuts, and to support quality education in the USG. If you’d like to become informed or active in making your voices and concerns known, the link is: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=355956350406. MCG Athens has also posted a petition and are requesting signatures. The link to sign their petition is: http://www.petitiononline.com/georgia1/petition.html.

You, your family, and friends can get political by finding your senator and representative information from http://www.legis.state.ga.us/ and voicing your concerns on how these cuts will affect the nursing shortage and quality of nursing care throughout Georgia.
