GANS is committed to seeing Georgia student nurses trained and prepared to help in the event of disaster. Below are some helpful resources to get you started if you are interested in learning more about disaster preparedness.

Ready Georgia
- Prepare. Plan. Stay informed. This site will assist you as you create a personal or family preparedness plan, prepare an emergency kit, or learn how to receive weather warnings and find your neighborhood shelter
State Electronic Registry of Volunteers (SERVGA)
- Be sure to join the Georgia Nurse Alert System when you register!
Citizen Corps
- Designed to bring together the volunteers and first responders of a community to work together in disaster response, crime awareness, and prevention, emergency medical and family preparedness.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
-NSNA recommends earning National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) Certification, especially the 100, 200, and 700 courses. This certification can be earned from the comfort of your own home by taking the course examinations online in the order listed:
